Hey friends, I’m pleased to let you know that I’ll be teaching a couple free workshops at the Alaska Folk Festival this year. The first one will be a guitar workshop on the Piedmont blues where we’ll look into songs by artists like Mississippi John Hurt, Elizabeth Cotten, Etta Baker, Blind Willie McTell, etc… This will start up at 10:30 on Saturday. The second workshop will be on the Eastern Kentucky Style of banjo playing. Here we’ll go over the up-picking technique of banjo playing that has been used by artists such as Banjo Bill Cornett, Rufus Crisp, and George Gibson. It kicks off at 3:00. I hope to see you there!
